This collection contains a letter written by William Klice to hisfather and mother on September 7,1862. Klice was a Union soldier in the 7th Missouri Volunteers, Company A. In the letter he describes skirmishes on the Mississippi Central Railroad and at Medon Station, Tennessee. He tells of one skirmish in which they had come under attack from a group of rebels: They charged up a steep hill and charged into the woods after the rebels. The rebels retreated even though they had some five thousand strong, while the union soldiers only numbered around four hundred. In the skirmish the rebels lost 50, and had many more wounded, while the union only had one wounded.
