Biographical/Historical Note
David Dale Dickey was born on July 27, 1927 in Williamstown, North Carolina to parents Charles Hadley Dickey and Billie Hall. Around 1934, his family moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where his father died in 1937. They then moved to Morristown, Tennessee. He fought in World War II and attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville after the war.
