Biographical/Historical Note
Silas L. Parker enlisted on April 7th, 1862 as a 2nd Lieutenant, and was 1st Lieutenant at the time of the authorship of this letter on June 11th, 1862. He earned the rank of Captain on August 15th, 1862. He died of wounds on January 19th, 1863.
