This collection consists of a scrapbook covering the life of Clifton Darling from 1927-1935 through newspaper clippings, photographs, and event programs.The focus is on his singing and acting performances in high school and college. The scrapbook documents Darling's performances in glee clubs, choirs, and plays. Newspaper clippings include reviews of his performances. Student life at the University of Rochester is documented (the freshman-sophomore competition), as is Darling's induction into the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity.

Abstract

Biographical/Historical Note

Clifton Darling attended New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois from 1926 until he graduated in 1929. He then attended the University of Rochester, from which he graduated in 1933. He was active in theater and chorus in school, and he played a minor role in the Broadway play Babes in Arms in 1937.
