Abstract
This collection contains letters sent to Edward Richard Herman, Private First Class in the United States Naval Forces, by various family members, friends, and lovers while he was stationed at Guadalcanal and later the Ulithi Islands in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Biographical/Historical Note
Edward Richard Herman was born in New York and joined the United States Navy at the start of World War II in the city of San Francisco, California as a Private Second Class. In the course of his letters, he was promoted to Private First Class.
