Biographical/Historical Note
Henry Bechtel (sometimes spelled Bechtol) was born in about 1836. He enlisted in Company E of the 22nd Ohio infantry on August 28, 1861. During the Civil War, this regiment fought in a number of campaigns, including Fort Donelson, Shiloh, and Corinth. Bechtel mustered out on November 18, 1864.
