Abstract
This collection consists of eleven coverlet patterns, including Whig Rose, World's Wonders, Nothing Delight, Sixteen Snowballs, Mountain Cucumber, and Nine Chariot Wheels.
Biographical/Historical Note
These patterns (called drafts) were created by individual weavers to record the patterns they used to create particular coverlets. These drafts were passed from weaver to weaver and used for as long as the paper lasted. Weavers often recycled such paper as letters to make these drafts and sewed or pinned the pieces together to create the final pattern. When the paper became too worn to use, it was sewn onto cloth to reinforce it.
Arrangement
This collection consists of a single folder.
Acquisition Note
Mrs. G. F. Lewis donated these patterns to Special Collections on September 9, 1954. They were brought to the Library by Ben McClary.
