Biographical/Historical Note
Thomas J. Crawford enlisted in Company F of the 63rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment (CSA) on September 24, 1862. He went absent without leave on August 20, 1863 after a stay in the hospital in Knoxville but was back with his regiment by October 31. Crawford was hospitalized again, this time in Virginia for neuralgia, in the summer of 1864. He deserted on December 25th of the same year and was apparently never caught.
