Abstract
This collection contains journals, ledgers, daybooks, and other papers documenting John C. Douglass and the Douglass Shed Post office between 1885 and 1893.
Biographical/Historical Note
John C. Douglass was the postmaster of the Douglass Shed post office (Washington County, Tennessee) sometime between its opening in 1878 and its closing in 1895. Douglass later became a doctor, and worked in Knoxville for many years. He died in Knoxville in about 1930.

Collection consists of two boxes.
Acquisition Note
Dr. W. Neil Franklin and Dr. Stanley J. Folmsbee donated these papers to the Special Collections Library in September of 1954.
