Biographical/Historical Note

Charter Day celebrates the anniversary of the University of Tennessee's charter, which was signed on September 10, 1794. It became an annual tradition at the suggestion of University Historian Dr. Milton M. Klein after the University's Bicentennial in 1994. As part of the festivities, awards are conferred on notable students, faculty, and alumni.
