Biographical/Historical Note
The Mississippi Central & Tennessee Railroad was incorporated in Tennessee in October of 1853 to build a railroad from the point where the Mississippi Central Railroad crossed the southern border of Tennessee through Bolivar to Jackson. The company was also allowed to add branches to Nashville and to the Kentucky state line. The Mississippi Central Railroad and the Mississippi Central & Tennessee Railroad were consolidated in 1854, although the Mississippi Central & Tennessee continued to operate under its former name for some time thereafter.
