This collection contains correspondence, appointments, and other official documents from 1847 to 1898. There is a cash book containing notes from 1877-1881 and private state docket books from 1848-1853. There are three account books for the dates 1864-1914.

Abstract
This collection houses correspondence, appointments, and other official documents related to Absalom Arthur Kyle and his son Hugh Graham Kyle. Hugh Graham Kyle was born on December 27th, 1849 to Absalom and Marry Anne in Rogersville, TN. Hugh followed in his father's footsteps and served as a judge and was a respected member of the Tennessee bar. He died on July 15th, 1927. There are also account books, private records of legal cases, and a cash book.
Biographical/Historical Note
Absalom Arthur Kyle was born in 1818 near Rogersville, TN. He married Mary Anne Graham on June 11, 1846 in Hawkins County, TN. During his life, Kyle worked as the State Attorney of the First Circuit, Attorney General of Tennessee, Supervisor of Banks in Tennessee, and Tax Commissioner. He died on November 15, 1885 in Whitesburg, TN.
