Biographical/Historical Note
The Knoxville Community Planning Council was formed in approximately 1943 as the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce's Post-War Planning Committee. The group had two objectives: to provide employment opportunities for returning veterans and for those no longer needed in war industries; and to develop, appraise, and sponsor long-range plans for the improvement of the social and economic life of the community.
