This collection contains plantation record books from the McCalley Plantation in Huntsville, Alabama. The record books contain information on the day to day operations of the plantations as well as inventories of the farm. There are also records on number of cotton picked by each enslaved person.

Biographical/Historical Note
McCalley Plantation was a large plantation operated by brothers Thomas and William McCalley and located outside Huntsville, Alabama, with nearly 100 enslaved people. The plantation was occupied by Federal troops during the Civil War.

Acquisition Note
This collection was given to the University of Tennessee Special Collections by Dr. Ira Chiles in 1968.
