Biographical/Historical Note
Dr. Edgar Stanley Freed (1894-1976) attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1912. He then earned a Master of Science degree in 1916 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and went on to earn his Doctorate from MIT as well in 1918. He eventually returned to serve as a faculty member at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
