Abstract

This is a collection of genealogical materials, professional papers, and personal papers related to Clara Hamlett Robertson Flannagan and her first husband, Judson Hall Robertson.

Biographical/Historical Note

Clara Hamlett Roberston Flannagan was born August 8, 1907 in Clarksville, Tennessee to James Morrison Hamlett (1864-1948) and Maude Clifton Hamlett (1871-1959). She married Judson Hall Robertson (1892-1962) in 1930 and later married Eric Goodyear Flannagan Sr. (1892-1970) in 1969. Clara died June 19, 1996 at the age of 88 and requested that her ashes be scattered at Mt. Pisgah in North Carolina.

Clara's first husband, Dr. Judson Hall Robertson, was born in Yancey Mills, Virginia to Elisha William Robertson (1850-1894) and Alberta Rothwell Yancey (1860-1927). Prior to his marriage to Clara, he married Mary Catherine Brown (1892-1927) in 1915. He graduated from Samuel Miller School in 1910, and he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 1920. He taught as a chemistry professor at the University of Tennessee from 1920 to his death in 1962. Robertson his buried in the Robertson Family Cemetery in Grainger County, Tenn.
