Biographical/Historical Note
Thomas Cook & Son was a travel company established in Leicester, England in 1841. Its owner, Thomas Cook, arranged rail transportation across Great Britain and eventually expanded to tours across Europe and the United States. The company was nationalized in 1948, becoming a part of the British Transport Commission.
