This collection consists primarily of a Testimonial of Service that the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company presented to Albert Emil Staub when he retired on December 31, 1947 after 43 years of service. Also included are five snapshots of Staub and his wife, a clipping from the L & N Magazine, and a service book from Staub's funeral.

Biographical/Historical Note

Albert Emil Staub was born on July 3, 1872 to Jacob and Sarah (Shetterly) Staub. He attended the University of Tennessee and served in Company A of the UT cadet battalion in 1889. Staub married Katherine T. Badge (1874-1904), and they had a son, Praed (1904-1977), ten days before Katherine died. He began working for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company in the fall of 1904 and served them as a travelling accountant until retiring in 1947. Staub married Clarine Agnes (1895-1983) on November 25, 1935, and they moved from Knoxville to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1947. Albert Staub died on October 15, 1958, and is buried in Knox County, Tennessee.
