Southgate Cregmile Letters
This collection consists of thirty-two letters to and from Southgate Cregmile during the Civil War (1862-1865). Cregmile served in the 69th Regiment, Ohio Infantry. The letters are addressed to his family back home and to his brother, Crittenden Cregmile, who also served in the military during the Civil War. Cregmile's letters to his mother and brother discuss the daily activities of a Union Soldier during the Civil War.

Biographical/Historical Note
Southgate Cregmile was born on January 19, 1843 to John Cregmile and Eleanor Griffith. Cregmile served on the Union side during the Civil War in Company E of the 69th Regiment, Ohio Infantry. He died on June 22, 1865.
