Biographical/Historical Note
The Tennessee Historical Society was founded in 1849 and is the oldest continually operating historical organization in Tennessee. The Tennessee Historical Society is based in Nashville, and its collections are housed at the Tennessee State Library and Archives. The organization has published the Tennessee Historical Quarterly since 1942.
