Biographical/Historical Note
John David Kreis was born on April 9, 1848 in Wartburg, Tennessee to Johann Kreis and Anna Kaufman. He married Augusta Katherine Gschwend (1854-1921) in 1875. They had at least three children; Dora Elizabeth (Kreis) Morris (1880-1952), Heinrich Ernest Kreis (1887-1890), and Carl Louis Kreis (1893-1961). John D. Kreis died on October 10, 1933.
