The Genealogy of Horsley Family was created in 1890 by Georges-Frédéric Baillairgé, a Canadian civil servant, engineer, and author. This collection contains "Part II" of his own family history, focusing on the Horsley branch. This manuscript consists of 46 typed pages including biographies of Baillairgé's ancestors and copied letters and poems they wrote.
"Part II" contains the history of the Horsley family dating back to 1680. Richard Horsley, the first documented name, was born in England, but Baillairgé documents Richard's descendants through France, Jamaica, Canada, and eventually the United States. Baillairgé dedicated at least one paragraph for each of his ancestors. More information was available on his recent family, so Baillairgé includes letters and poems along with their dates. The genealogy covers 1680-1890, when he typed this manuscript.

Biographical / Historical
Georges-Frédéric Baillairgé was born in Quebec in 1824. He spoke English and French fluently and was trained in law as a young man. He began working for the Canadian government in 1844 starting a decades-long career in land surveying and engineering. Later in his life, Baillairgé wrote several books about Canada and began working on a complete history of his family. His proposed work would have consisted of eleven volumes, but he only wrote seven before he passed away in 1909.
