Biographical / Historical
Orton Caswell "Cas" Walker was born in Sevier County, Tennessee, on March 23, 1902. Walker founded a chain of small grocery stores in east Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky. Walker served on the Knoxville City Council from 1941-1971 and briefly as Mayor of Knoxville in 1946 and 1959. He also had a variety show, The Cas Walker Farm and Home Hour, which ran on the radio and television between 1929-1983. Walker died September 26, 1998, and is buried in Knoxville.
