Biographical / Historical

James Stinson was appointed Sheriff of Greene County on November 1, 1790. At the time, Greene County was located in the Southwest Territory, what would later become the state of Tennessee in 1796. Landon Carter (1760-1800) served in many government positions in North Carolina, the State of Franklin, the Southwest Territory, and the State of Tennessee.
