Reverend Matthew Hillsman organized the Union Fork Baptist Church in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee in 1839. It met originally in a log cabin on land donated by (John) Russell Miller. The congregation built a frame structure in 1925 followed by a larger building in 1938. The WPA inventoried the church's records in 1940 and noted that Clarence Starling was the current pastor.
