The College of Home Economics at the University of Tennessee began in the early 20th century. In the college, students learned about child care and development, family studies, education, nutrition, interior design, and sewing. The name was later changed to the College of Human Ecology, and in 2002 it merged with the College of Education to form the College of Education, Health, and Human Services.
