Receipt of delivery signed on the pay voucher places Captain Jennings in Knoxville, Tennessee on April 13, 1863.

Biographical/Historical Note

William Jennings was born in 1827 in Kentucky. He married Lucy A. Hawkins on April 8, 1852 and the couple had at least three children. Jennings enlisted in Company K of the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry at the rank of Captain on July 25, 1862 at Livingston, Tennessee. He resigned his post on November 29, 1862 in order to accept a post as a military surgeon. Jennings survived the war and returned to his family in Kentucky, where he most likely died in 1892.
