Biographical/Historical Note
Lucius Polk Brown (1867-1935) was born in Maury, Tennessee, on August 1, 1867 to Campbell (1843-1893) and Susan Rebecca Polk (1847-1922). He was married twice, first to Jesse Roberts (1871-1897), on January 30, 1895, and after she passed, he married Susan Massie (1871- ) on December 12, 1903. Brown managed a well-known family farm, Ewell Farm, and two plantations, Spring Hill and Melrose, for many years. Brown kept detailed accounts of the daily runnings of both the farm and plantations.
