This survey was done for John Bean by Nathaniel Taylor, who was the surveyor appointed by the court in the dispute between Bean and John Hammer. It measures the perimeter of this tract by pole length, and refers to the Entry of No 1540 dated August 27, 1779. This land was in the territory south of the Ohio, and abutted lands owned by John White and Robert Lewcase.

Biographical/Historical Note

Nathaniel M. Taylor was born in 1771, probably to Andrew and Elizabeth (Wilson) Taylor.He married Mary Virginia Patton (1773-1853) in 1791 and they had at least seven children. He arrived in Tennessee in 1788, and was a magistrate involved in forming Carter County out of Washington County in 1796. He was appointed the county sheriff at that time, and later served in the Tennessee Assembly. He was commissioned as a major general in the War of 1812, and died in 1816 near Sabine Hill, Tennessee.
