Lucina J. Porter Autograph Album
This autograph album has many pages filled with poems from friends, mostly at the Madisonville Female Academy in Tennessee, though there are some from Sweetwater, Athens, Philadelphia, and Cleveland. There are two obituaries, for Mary Francina Varnell and Jane Ann Isabella Davis, tucked between the pages as well as a small card with a poem on it. Lucina also recorded some poems herself within the album.

Biographical/Historical Note
Lucina Jane Porter was born circa 1836 to William B. and Elizabeth Porter of Riceville, Tennessee. She married Willford Dodson on January 24, 1854 in McMinn County, and together they had one daughter, named Mollie. By 1880, Lucina was married to Stephen Porter, with whom she had Girta, Maggie, Thomas, and William. She died on December 5, 1909 in Pleasant Shade, Tennessee.
