This collection houses letters and postcards from Le Roy Farrington to his wife and mother. The letters are dated between May 27, 1918 and July 8, 1919 and are written from Camp Wadsworth in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and from France. The letters describe life in the camps and in France, and most of the letters come with the original envelopes. There is also a letter written by Farrington's wife Alice to Farrington's mother about the birth of her child. The collection also houses Farrington's draft card and certificate, a war risk insurance premium notice, an army patch, a photograph, and a one franc note.

Biographical/Historical Note

Le Roy Farrington was born in Connecticut in 1897. He married Alice Farrington and had two children, Deborah and Eleanor. They lived in Westchester, New York. Farrington served in France with the American Expeditionary Force as a member of the 2nd Pioneer Infantry Regiment. His service in the war is memorialized on the North Castle World War I Memorial in Westchester.
