George French Documents
This collection consists of four documents transferring land to and from George French in Knox County, Tennessee. The first document is a deed dated September 2, 1816 transferring five acres of land from Foster Freeman to George French for a payment of twenty dollars. The second document is dated September 11, 1826 and grants twenty-two acres of land to George French. The third document is dated March 18, 1857 and grants three hundred acres of land to George French. The fourth document is an indenture dated February 5, 1864 transferring 171 acres of land from George French to Jacob Tarwater for a payment of one thousand dollars.

Biographical/Historical Note
George French was born in 1795 in Virginia. He moved to Knox County, Tennessee and married Elizabeth Houser on July 31, 1818.
