This invitation is to the closing exercises of the senior class of Mrs. M.E. Kingsford's Seminary. Beneath the information about time and place, the order of exercises is listed. It includes a mix of music and compositions, culminating in the presentation of bibles and a benediction.

Abstract

This invitation is to the closing exercises of the senior class of Mrs. M.E. Kingsford's Seminary. The invitation is accompanied by a calling card for Mrs. M.E. Kingsford and young ladies, and a small envelope addressed to Hon. Mr. Johnson & Lady, House of Representatives, Washington DC.

Biographical/Historical Note

Mary E. Kingsford was born circa 1810 in England. She served as the principal of a female academy.

The M.E. Kingsford Seminary was limited to 20 boarding students and 20 day students. Two of its graduates, Mary Norgott Bryan and Eliza Speiden Childs, have mentioned it in their memoirs.
