Jesse W. Townsend Papers
This collection consists of Jessie Townsend’s military record -- including assignments, executive orders, training requests and clearances -- and his aeronautical manuals and class notes from his service in the United States Air Force during World War II. Townsend enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 and rose to the rank of Sergeant. During his service, Townsend sustained an injury to his eye which required reassignment and additional training as a Bombsight Maintenance Technician.
