This collection houses bonds, land deeds, and correspondence documenting John and Lou (Franklin) Walters of Jefferson County, Tennessee.

Biographical/Historical Note

John Milo Walters was born on April 8, 1850 in Tennessee. He married Lula Rhoda Lou Franklin (1858-1927) on September 5, 1883, and the couple had at least five children, including John Milo, Robert McBee, Herbert Sanford (who went on to serve in the U. S. Senate), Dorcas, and Elizabeth Franklin. John Walters died in Jefferson County, Tennessee on November 4, 1934.
