Biographical/Historical Note
Nelson E. Prentice enlisted on September 5, 1863 as a 1st Lieutenant in the M Company Ohio 1st Heavy Artillery. He served until he was mustered out on July 25, 1865. In his diary, he recounts his experiences which pertained to operations in Ohio and East Tennessee/Knoxville Areas.
