The book contains records of Hiwassee Manufacturing Co. as well as Knoxville Woolen Mills. The records include the company charters, bylaws, minutes from Board of Directors meetings, assets and liabilities, and stockholder information. This collection contains records of these companies from the years 1884-1914.

Biographical/Historical Note
The Knoxville Woolen Mills was a corporation that officially began in April 1884. The business’s general manager was R.P. Gettys, who originally had an ownership role in Hiwassee Manufacturing Co., as seen in this collection. The mill manufactured raw materials into fabric. E.J. Sanford was president of the mill, while Gettys maintained the role of both general manager and vice president. This collection contains records of these companies from the years 1884-1914.
