This collection consists of three interview transcriptions with Ben Franklin on from 2004-2005 by G. Kurt Piehler, John B. Romeiser, and Braum Lincoln Denton. In the interviews, Franklin details his childhood in Knoxville, TN and his service in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Biographical/Historical Note
Benjamin C. Franklin was born on January 19, 1925 in Knoxville, TN to Carl and Irene Franklin. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Throughout World War II, Franklin served in the African, Italian, and European theaters of war. Most notably, he landed with the assault wave with the First Infantry Division on Omaha Beach, Normany, France on June 6, 1944. He served in the army until 1963 before retiring as a Command Sergeant Major and received several military awards such as WWII Victory Medal and the French Legion of Honor. He married Ute B. Keicher in 1948 while stationed in Germany. He passed away on January 19, 2012, his 87th birthday, and is buried in Knoxville.
