This collection contains one tape of a recording of Albert Johnson's account on events that transpired at Midway Baptisit Church in east Loudon County, Tennessee in the late 1940s on the matter of John Shipley and how those events affected the rest of the community. It also contains a written letter by John Marius who recorded Albert Johnson.

Abstract

This collection contains one tape of a recording of Albert Johnson's account on events that transpired at Midway Baptist Church in east Loudon County, Tennessee in the late 1940s and how those events affected the rest of the community.

Biographical/Historical Note

Albert H. Johnson was born on May 4, 1913. He lived in Loudon and Knox counties and was married to Edith W. Johnson. He was a member and elected deacon of Midway Baptist Church. Johnson died February 11, 2002 and is buried in Lenoir City, TN.

John B. Shipley was born on August 8, 1917. He lived in Loudon and Knox counties and was married to Bessie O. Shipley. He died November 22, 1994 in Knoxville and is buried in Lenoir City.
