This collection is composed of a worn autograph book of Rossie Hinton's containing decorated pages and lines for autographs. It is partially filled with short messages or signatures, most dating to the 1880s although a few extend into 1899. Writers include family such as Hinton's sister and daughter as well as many brief notes from acquaintances. On the front page are two photographs both of unknown people.

Autograph book containing signatures, notes, and ditties from the 1880s-1890s to Rossie Hinton.

Biographical/Historical Note

Ruth "Rossie" Lones Hinton was born on May 16, 1863 to George (1825-1899) and Nancy Bell Lones (1832-1911) in Tennessee. She married George Lowery Hinton (1853-1945) and they had three children: Eva Belle, Georgia, and Mary. Rossie died on April 7, 1949 is buried in Knoxville, TN.
