University of Tennessee Bowl Game Jerseys
Each of the four jerseys signifies the bowl game the jersey was worn in: The January 1992 Fiesta Bowl, the January 1994 Citrus Bowl, the December 1994 Gator Bowl, or the January 1996 Citrus Bowl. The jerseys are all University of Tennessee Orange and in good condition apart from glue residue and pinholes that remain from the mounting process for display.
The two plaques reveal more detailed information on these jerseys. The first, slightly larger plaque is entitled in capital letters “OFFICAL UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE JERSEYS” with the four bowl games and their respective years listed below. The last lines of this first plaque state that the jerseys were manufactured by Sportsbelle Inc. The second, smaller plaque reveals the specific fabric names of each jersey. The plaque begins by stating “Fabrics by GAMETIME,” and listed below are the four types and their specific numbers used for each jersey: #3557, Porthole Mesh; #3544, Dazzle; #3564, Dazzle; and #34968, Nylon Spandex. Biographical/Historical Note
There are four University of Tennessee, Knoxville Volunteers football jerseys in this collection from various years and bowl games. The January 1992 Fiesta Bowl in Arizona was against the Penn State Nittany Lions, who beat the Tennessee Vols 42-17. The January 1994 Citrus Bowl was held in Florida against the Penn State Nittany Lions, who beat the Vols 31-13. The December 1994 Gator Bowl was held in Florida, where Tennessee beat the Virginia Tech Hokies 45-23. The January 1996 Citrus Bowl was held in Florida, where the Volunteers beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 20-14.
