Biographical/Historical Note
A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, The Moonshine War was directed by Richard Quine and shot during 1969. The film was based on the 1969 novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard, who also adapted his story into the screenplay. Starring Alan Alda, Richard Widmark, and Patrick McGoohan, The Moonshine War features a federal agent during the Prohibition era who is looking to make money off of moonshine before the ban against it is lifted.
