This collection contains several copies of the "Chandelle," a publication from the Station Hospital in Moody Field, Georgia from 1944 and 1945 regarding its Convalescent Training Program. Abstract

This collection contains several copies of the "Chandelle," a publication from the Station Hospital in Moody Field, Georgia from 1944 and 1945 regarding its Convalescent Training Program. Also included is a Toastmasters address, a letter from Walter Lassen, and a Station Hospital Booklet.

Biographical/Historical Note

Walter Louis Lassen was born July 11, 1916 in South Dakota. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. During his service, he worked as a training officer at the 2144th AAF Base Unit Station Hospital in Moody Field, Georgia. He worked with the Convalescent Training Program. He also served as the editor of the "Chandelle," a publication created by and for the patients of the hospital. Following the war, he worked as a county extension agent for the Farm Home Adminstration. He married Virginia Lassen and together they had five children. He died October 18, 1999 and is buried in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
