Biographical/Historical Note
The Eastern State Hospital for the Insane was located in Knoxville, Tennessee from its founding in 1886 until its closing in 2012. In 1927, the facility was renamed the Eastern State Psychiatric Hospital and later, in 1977, to Lakeshore Mental Health Institute.
