Abstract
This collection houses constitutions and rushing rules documenting the Pan-Hellenic Association at the University of Tennessee between 1918 and 1943.
Biographical/Historical Note
The first Pan-Hellenic Association at the University of Tennessee was established in 1904-1905. After a lapse of several years, it was reorganized in 1918. The organization governed rushing, setting aside a specific rush day, limiting the number of social events each sorority could have during the pre-rush season, and ensuring that no member spoke to a non-member specifically about her sorority before membership invitations were extended. The duties once performed by this organization are now handled by the Pan-Hellenic Affairs Office.
Arrangement
This collection consists of a single folder.
Acquisition Note
Susan Hadley of the Pan-Hellenic Council donated these materials to University Archives on December 16, 1980.
