Abstract
The UT Rowing Team Collection covers the University of Tennessee Lady Vols Rowing Team from 1997-2010, but is missing year 2001. The materials contained are media guides, award plaques, and posters.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Lady Vols Rowing team began in 1995, originally coached by Susannah Iacovino. In 1999, Lisa Glenn, a previous rowing coach for the University of Iowa and the US Junior National Team, became head coach. After Glenn’s promotion to coach, the team started competing on national levels, participating in the NCAA championship eight times over 20 years. Glenn was praised for not only the athletic achievements of the Lady Vol Rowers, but for promoting academic achievements as well, earning 66 CRCA Scholar-athlete awards since 2001. The Lady Vols received fifth in the 2008 NCAA championship, their best event, and has received countless regional and academic awards.
