Biographical / Historical

The Putnam County Home Demonstration Club was an organization dedicated to assisting and supporting rural homes and women in Putnam County, Tennessee. Rural women were taught homemaking techniques by a Home Demonstration Agent, a woman dedicated to educating her community on helpful homemaking. Home Demonstration Clubs were found across the country in the mid-twentieth century after being founded by the US Department of Agriculture in 1946.
