Biographical/Historical Note
Elliott, Johnson & Company was established in 1874 under the name Merrick, Johnson & Company. It was briefly known as Craige, Johnson & Company before becoming more permanently established as Elliott, Johnson & Company in 1876. In 1888, its principal partners were Alfred S. Elliott, Henry H. Johnson, and Henry P. Scott. The firm conducted a general brokerage business and specialized in railroad investments.
