Biographical / Historical
Joseph A. Boles (1920-1990) served with the U. S. Army during World War II as a technical sergeant with the Sixth Armored Infantry Battalion. Boles enlisted October 1, 1940, and was discharged September 30, 1945. Boles served in both the European Theater and the North African Theater. Following the war, Boles worked with the Tennessee Valley Authority until retirement. Boles married Sarah Elizabeth McGuiston Boles and together they had three children. Boles is buried in Roane County, Tennessee.
