Biographical / Historical
Robert Spencer Crouse was born in 1924 in Rutherford, Tennessee to Charles and Alice Crouse. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the 310th Bomb Group, 379th Bomb Squad. Crouse received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee and later worked for Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Crouse was married twice, first to Laverda King (1922-2011) and later to Mary Elizabeth Hope. Crouse died May 22, 2004, and is buried in Anderson County, Tennessee.
